A local council in the UK has banned a fast-food restaurant from operating near a school, citing concerns that students eating too much fast food could lead to obesity.

The restaurant, called Bambooze, is located in the eastern suburbs of London, close to a school. The council has demanded its closure.

In 2005, a British chef launched a nationwide campaign encouraging students to eat proper meals instead of fast food to avoid obesity and malnutrition. On March 24 this year, the borough council in London's eastern suburbs passed a resolution prohibiting fast-food outlets from opening within 400 meters of schools. As a result, Bambooze faced strong opposition from the council and local residents after its opening.

The local council stated that it would not issue an operating license to Bambooze and advised the restaurant to cease operations voluntarily. Residents also argued that fast-food restaurants in the area attracted teenagers, leading to littering, noise, and contributing to youth obesity. They therefore supported the closure of Bambooze.
