Experts from the Oakland Public Health Nursing Agency in the United States have been tracking the health data of 10,000 middle-aged individuals aged 40 to 45 over the past few decades. The results revealed an organic link between midlife obesity and dementia.

Statistics show that individuals who are moderately overweight in middle age have a 35% higher chance of developing dementia in old age compared to those with normal weight. For those who are extremely obese in middle age, the risk of developing such diseases is as high as 74% more than those with normal weight! Experiments conducted by experts on animals such as white mice further revealed that obesity caused by long-term high-fat diets can indeed lead to early onset of intellectual problems such as memory loss and cognitive difficulties in very young animals.

In light of this, experts recommend that individuals with a family history of obesity and Alzheimer's disease should pay special attention to diet and exercise during middle age, as this is one of the most direct, simplest, and most effective methods to prevent Alzheimer's disease.
