Police in Chiayi today busted an illegal radio station and seized unlawfully sold medications. Many of these products, such as detox liver pills or placenta extracts, may contain counterfeit ingredients. Long-term excessive consumption could lead to severe consequences, including the need for dialysis. These drugs cost only about NT$300 to produce but were sold at inflated prices of NT$3,000 to NT$4,000.

Officers forced open the iron door of the mountain-based station, confiscating all equipment, including transmitters and amplifiers, as the station illegally peddled drugs late at night. Spread across the table were boxes of detox liver pills, placenta extracts marketed for women's rejuvenation, stomach remedies, and cough powders. Another top-selling product was "Bedi Cream," claimed to treat all skin ailments, priced at NT$3,000 to NT$4,000 per jar, with hundreds sold weekly.

Upon closer inspection, the packaging appeared crude. The operators downloaded images online, added endorsements from hosts, and even left typos marked with an "X," using exaggerated ads to lure elderly buyers. Health officials immediately recognized these products as mislabeled and potentially adulterated with fake ingredients, warning that overuse could harm the liver or even necessitate dialysis.

Particularly dangerous was the best-selling cream, touted as a cure-all for skin issues but actually containing steroids. Police revealed the drugs cost only NT$200–300 to produce, making buyers who paid NT$3,000–4,000 victims of a scam. Authorities urged the public to scrutinize such products and discard any purchased from these stations for their health.
