For years, I-Shou University in Kaohsiung County has been striving to establish a medical school without success. Shifting its approach, the university applied to set up a "Post-Baccalaureate Program in Chinese Medicine" and announced today that the application has been approved by the Ministry of Education, with enrollment expected to begin next year.

I-Shou University stated that currently, only universities such as Chang Gung University and China Medical University offer programs in Chinese medicine. The university's Post-Baccalaureate Program in Chinese Medicine will be the only one of its kind in southern Taiwan, aiming to cultivate more outstanding Chinese medicine practitioners and researchers for the country.

The university noted that I-Shou University is one of the few institutions with high-quality educational resources, including a regional teaching hospital. Its affiliated E-Da Hospital has established a Chinese medicine department, providing comprehensive Chinese medical services. In the future, it will collaborate with the university's Chinese medicine program to develop a robust clinical training system for Chinese medicine.

The Post-Baccalaureate Program in Chinese Medicine at I-Shou University is designed to integrate with Western medicine, building a bridge between the two disciplines. It emphasizes training in herbal medicine and incorporates biotechnology to enrich the curriculum. Graduates of the program will be equipped to pursue diverse career paths in Chinese medicine.
