According to Xinhua News Agency, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has spread to 130 countries and regions, with hundreds of thousands of practitioners.

The agency cited a report from the overseas edition of the People's Daily, stating that there are currently over 3,000 TCM clinics in the UK, with approximately 2.5 million people annually using traditional Chinese therapies such as herbal medicine, massage, and acupuncture. France has more than 2,600 TCM clinics and around 8,000 acupuncturists. The Netherlands has over 1,500 TCM clinics, with about 15% of its population receiving acupuncture treatment. The United States has more than 400 specialized herbal medicine companies, with over 1 million people receiving TCM acupuncture therapy each year.

TCM education and academic activities are also developing rapidly, with at least 40 countries worldwide establishing TCM acupuncture schools. Many governments have begun to pay attention to TCM, and over 50 bilateral cooperation agreements with China's Ministry of Health include TCM-related content. Seventeen countries and regions have separately signed TCM cooperation agreements with China's TCM authorities.

The widespread international dissemination of TCM has created a professional international TCM workforce of hundreds of thousands, distributed across the world, running clinics, schools, conducting research, and engaging in marketing. Although this workforce is spread across different countries, they all require talent and technical support. To this end, the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, approved by China's Ministry of Personnel, has established a specialized service organization to provide talent support.
