According to a report by Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao, depression, the "invisible killer," has recently become a focal topic again. The World Health Organization estimates that depression will become the second-largest illness by 2020, second only to heart disease.

It is understood that depression is often considered a civilization disease limited to developed countries. However, data from the World Health Organization shows that in a community, 5% to 10% of people need assistance due to depression, and 8% to 20% of people may experience depression at some point in their lives.

Depression is usually caused by a combination of physiological and environmental factors. In the past, the burden and pressure caused by mental illness on society or individuals were often overlooked. Currently, however, mental illnesses, including depression, have severely impacted global society.

Although depression may have the potential to recur, the disease can be treated and prevented. In addition to receiving medication, encouragement and support from those around them can help patients recover more quickly from this nightmare. According to surveys, there is a growing trend of younger individuals suffering from depression. Even young students may develop this challenging condition due to environmental factors.
