The Singapore Ministry of Health will revise relevant policies within this year to recognize medical diplomas from the most renowned medical schools worldwide, allowing more foreign professionals, including Chinese doctors, to practice medicine in Singapore.

According to Xinhua News Agency in Singapore on March 5, as reported by Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on the 5th, this was disclosed by Singapore's Minister of Health, Khaw Boon Wan, during an exclusive interview with the newspaper.

Khaw Boon Wan stated that this is a quick solution to address the shortage of specialist doctors in Singapore. Introducing foreign doctors will promote industry competition, effectively control local medical costs, and prevent the local medical industry from arbitrarily raising prices. At the same time, if local medical costs remain low, it will attract more foreign patients to seek medical treatment, promoting the healthy development of Singapore's medical industry.

Currently, Singapore only recognizes medical diplomas from 71 universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and Hong Kong, China. According to the new plan by the Singapore Ministry of Health, medical diplomas from the most renowned medical schools in developing countries, including China and India, will also be recognized.
