Last month, TVBS exclusively reported on a 17-year-old high school sophomore in Taichung City who, after receiving the H1N1 flu vaccine, experienced weakness and loss of sensation in the left side of her body, leaving her partially paralyzed. Nearly a month later, this student, surnamed Feng, has been hospitalized again. Her body involuntarily convulses seven or eight times a day, and she vomited blood three times over two days. Her vision suddenly became blurry, with double images appearing, forcing her back into the hospital. However, her mother received an official document stating that these symptoms were unrelated to the vaccine, leaving her furious.

Ms. Feng showed an envelope containing an official letter from the Drug Injury Relief Foundation, which stated, "After review, it has been determined that Ms. Feng's suspected side effects from the H1N1 flu vaccination are unrelated to the vaccine, and no relief will be provided." Ms. Feng was devastated. Ms. Feng: "They told me again it's unrelated to the vaccine. I was furious. Right now, treating my child is what matters most."

Ms. Feng has been running around the hospital because her high school sophomore daughter has been readmitted. Ms. Feng: "On December 9, she vomited blood twice, and on the 10th, once more—just suddenly, it gushed out."

On the 24th of last month, after receiving the H1N1 vaccine, Ms. Feng became partially paralyzed. No matter how hard she pinched her arm, leaving it red, she felt nothing. From her hand to her foot, her left side was powerless. Though she was discharged on December 4 and returned to school, she frequently suffered severe convulsions and even vomited blood three times over two days. Worse, her vision became blurry, with double images appearing.

Ms. Feng: "I looked at my mom and said, 'Mom, why are there two of you?' My mom was shocked and asked, 'Do you see me as two?' I said, 'Yes, two. Mom is here,' but then I couldn’t even touch her."

Back in the hospital, doctors arranged a series of ophthalmology exams and a PET scan, with medical expenses totaling 30,000 to 40,000 NT dollars. Ms. Feng said she would borrow money from relatives and friends to cover the costs and find a way to cure her daughter. As for her daughter’s suspected vaccine-related health issues, Ms. Feng is considering forming a self-help group to seek justice on their own.
