On January 11, 2006, a grand commemorative event for Huangfu Mi, the founding father of Chinese acupuncture medicine, was held in Gansu, attended by officials, academics, and the public. The event featured the publication of the "Complete Collection of Chinese Huangfu Mi Research" and the issuance of commemorative stamps. Ma Xilin, Deputy Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee, and Li Xiaojie, Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda, presided over the ceremony.
Huangfu Mi was a distinguished medical acupuncturist, historian, and literary figure of the Jin Dynasty in China. His medical masterpiece, "The ABC Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion," pioneered the field of acupuncture medicine worldwide and is clinically applied in over 140 countries and regions, becoming a compulsory subject in medical research in many countries. Huangfu Mi is revered as the "Founding Father of World Acupuncture Medicine" due to his significant contributions to medical science. Research on Huangfu Mi is currently flourishing, and his historical and cultural value is increasingly recognized, making studies about him a hot topic in academic circles.
Li Xiaojie stated during the event, "We sincerely invite all interested individuals and social elites to join the research and development of Huangfu Mi's cultural heritage."
It is reported that Gansu has restored historical sites such as Huangfu Mi's ancient tomb and his residence in Lingtai County, Pingliang City, and has established the Huangfu Mi Memorial Temple, Huangfu Mi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Huangfu Mi Pharmaceutical Company. Additionally, the Huangfu Mi Research Institute and the Huangfu Mi Cultural Exchange Association have been founded, along with the creation of the Huangfu Mi website and the launch of academic journals such as "Chinese Huangfu Mi" and "Huangfu Mi Research," showcasing a series of research achievements on Huangfu Mi.
