On February 1, 2006, the research project titled "Guidelines for Clinical Research on Sub-health in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Trial)" undertaken by the Sub-health Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine under the Policy and Regulation Department of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine was concluded. The participating experts believed that the data on which the project was based were comprehensive and detailed, the methods were appropriate, and the research results were credible.
It is reported that since its launch in December 2004, the project systematically collected relevant domestic and international literature on sub-health, organized discussions and evaluations by nearly 100 experts and scholars nationwide, and formed a draft for soliciting opinions on the "Evaluation Standards and Classification of Sub-health in Traditional Chinese Medicine." Based on this, the draft was further revised by soliciting written opinions from nearly 20 renowned domestic experts.
The project elaborated on the concept and scope of sub-health and the understanding of sub-health in traditional Chinese medicine, proposed subtypes of sub-health, characteristics of common syndromes in traditional Chinese medicine, comprehensive evaluation methods, and principles of TCM intervention for sub-health, and pointed out the direction for future research on sub-health in traditional Chinese medicine.
