Thinking about getting fat-dissolving injections to lose weight? It might be difficult! The U.S. FDA issued a warning on the 7th, stating that the ingredients, effects, and efficacy of fat-dissolving injections are "unproven," and there is no approval for their use in fat removal.

In Taiwan, administering fat-dissolving injections is illegal. Plastic surgeons have also warned that improper use of these injections can harm the body. Dr. Tsai Feng-Chuan, Director of Plastic Surgery at Taipei Medical University Hospital, said: "Some clinics add steroids or other ingredients because steroids cause atrophy. If sterilization isn’t done properly, it can lead to bacterial infections, commonly known as cellulitis. Even if used correctly, fat-dissolving injections may only have a 0.1% effect on the targeted area."

A quick online search for "fat-dissolving injections" reveals many cosmetic clinics still advertising these treatments despite the health department's ban, claiming they can help dissolve fat and even emphasizing "recognized therapeutic effects" on their websites. The health department clarified that no fat-dissolving injections have been approved for import in Taiwan and urged beauty-conscious consumers not to waste their money on scams.
