A rare "grassland moth" disaster has occurred in Heilongjiang Province, mainland China, affecting 13 regions across the province. Heilongjiang has initiated a special project to control the "grassland moth," urgently mobilizing experts for prevention and control.

According to mainland media reports, from late July to early August this year, a large number of adult grassland moths migrated into Heilongjiang in large quantities. The extent of the pest infestation, the affected area, and the density of the pests are all unprecedented in history.

The grassland moth is a type of "Lepidoptera" pest that often consumes all the plants in one area before collectively migrating to another. Crops affected include soybeans, sunflowers, marigolds, sugar beets, and corn.
