Thailand, known for its year-round high temperatures, is currently experiencing an unusual cold spell. Influenced by a cold front moving south from China, the capital city of Bangkok has seen temperatures drop to around 15 degrees Celsius since the 17th, with northern regions even experiencing lows of about 1 degree Celsius. As a result, at least 20 people have died from the cold so far.
Thailand experiencing near-zero temperatures? It's true, frost has even formed on the ground. Affected by the cold front from China, Thailand has been hit by rare low temperatures since mid-January, with temperatures dropping to around 15 degrees Celsius across the country. The further north, the colder it gets. In recent days, approximately 20 people have died from the cold or related illnesses, and hospitals are filled with patients.
Elementary schools, which have never experienced such low temperatures before, naturally lack heating facilities. Children can only warm up by attending classes under the sun. If humans are struggling to cope, imagine the impact on plants accustomed to the warm southern climate. The vegetables in this farm have suffered severe cold damage.
To address the disasters brought by the cold wave, the Thai government has allocated emergency funds and is providing the public with blankets and winter clothing. However, this cold weather may persist until February, so the Thai people will have to endure a bit longer. (Comprehensive report by Min-Shi News, Cui Lijie)
