New Taipei City's Yingren Hospital was exposed last year for employing a janitor as a doctor, leading to a patient's death. Investigations revealed that hospital director Huang Mingshan allowed unlicensed doctor Zhong Huanzhen to administer injections and prescribe medication, resulting in the patient's death—an act deemed utterly unethical. Prosecutors charged the director, the unlicensed doctor, and two others with forgery and professional negligence causing death. The director was also recommended for a 12-year sentence.

Huang Mingshan, the director of Yingren Hospital, was arrested late last year for hiring an unlicensed doctor. At the time, he loudly insisted his hospital was completely legal and without any issues, speaking with great confidence. However, his subordinate, unlicensed doctor Zhong Huanzhen, immediately suffered a seizure and convulsions upon hearing he would be detained—because he was the one who caused the death of a 90-year-old grandmother.

In the photo, the grandmother smiles brightly, never imagining that during her hospitalization, unlicensed doctor Zhong Huanzhen would forcibly remove her ventilator and administer over 30 cardiac stimulant injections, leading to her innocent death. "I kept thinking, why couldn’t they wait until we arrived before removing the tube?" The grandmother's daughter-in-law grew angrier as she spoke. What shocked her even more was Director Huang Mingshan's later remark that he wanted Zhong Huanzhen to "practice more so his skills could improve," treating human lives as mere toys.

The illegal treatments occurred over a hundred times, and all medical records at the clinic were falsified. Fabricated treatment documents were used to fraudulently claim National Health Insurance payments. Treating patients as tools for profit, the director and the unlicensed doctor showed no remorse after their arrest, shifting blame onto each other. Both were indicted, with Huang Mingshan facing a recommended 12-year sentence. However, for the grandmother's family, this outcome likely does little to ease the pain of losing their loved one.
