It's common for couples to nag each other. However, a Danish study found that constant nagging from one spouse not only irritates the other but also increases their risk of developing angina.

In 2000, researchers from the University of Copenhagen recruited over 4,500 Danish participants without heart disease, divided into groups aged 40 and 50, and conducted a six-year follow-up study. They tracked the participants' health status and interpersonal relationships.

By the end of the study, 9% of the participants had developed angina. The incidence was similar between men and women, with higher rates among the 50-year-old group. Those under significant daily stress were also more prone to angina.

The findings, published in the British *Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health*, revealed that a partner's nagging had the strongest negative impact. If a partner was overly demanding or prone to nagging, the risk of angina increased approximately fourfold. Dealing with worries related to children or other family members doubled the risk. Disputes with neighbors generally did not raise the likelihood of angina—unless the neighbor was particularly argumentative, in which case the risk rose by 60%.

The British *Daily Mail* quoted the researchers, stating that if someone holds significant importance in a person's life, their excessive demands or concerns about them could be major risk factors for angina. Of course, individual personality traits may also play a role.
