American researchers say that people who consume more than 2,000 calories a day are more likely to experience memory loss.
Researchers from the Mayo Clinic in the U.S. stated that they conducted an experiment with three groups of people. One group consumed fewer than 1,500 calories per day, another consumed between 1,500 and 2,100 calories, and the third group consumed between 2,100 and 6,000 calories.
The results showed that those who consumed fewer than 2,100 calories per day did not experience significant changes in memory. However, those who exceeded 2,100 calories were twice as likely to suffer memory loss.
The researchers recommend eating less and choosing healthier foods to reduce the risk of dementia.
