Exercise alone isn't enough to ensure longevity—research shows that people who sit around too much tend to have shorter lifespans!

The American Cancer Society tracked the daily activity habits of 123,000 healthy men and women. The results revealed that women who spent more than six hours sitting during their leisure time outside of work—such as watching TV, playing video games, browsing the internet, or reading—had a 40% higher risk of premature death compared to those who sat for less than three hours. For men, the risk increased by 20%.

The study suggests that sitting idly often leads to mindless snacking, resulting in weight gain. Prolonged sitting also suppresses the immune system, increasing the risk of cancer and other diseases. When the body is inactive, blood circulation slows down, potentially leading to blood clots.
