Laser vision correction surgery is very common, but a small number of patients may experience complications due to their constitution or other unknown reasons. Renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Tsai Jui-fang has recently encountered over a dozen cases of patients seeking treatment due to unbearable complications, with varying degrees of severity.
Dr. Tsai said, for example, a 45-year-old woman had good vision for more than a decade after the surgery, but recently her vision has noticeably deteriorated. No matter how hard she tries, she can't see clearly and is unable to drive her children to and from school, leaving her very frustrated.
**Case: 30-year-old male**
Post-surgery vision 0.5, seeing things blurry
Another case involves a 30-year-old young man with myopia of about five to six hundred degrees. He recently underwent laser vision correction surgery at an eye clinic, expecting his vision to be corrected to a clear 1.0 in both eyes. However, post-surgery, his vision only reached 0.5, leaving everything he sees blurry and greatly affecting his work. He deeply regrets having the surgery.
**Case: Woman in her 20s**
Post-surgery vision 1.0, but lacking sharpness
There is also a young woman in her 20s who, in addition to myopia, also had astigmatism. Six months ago, she underwent laser vision correction surgery, with her right eye recovering to 1.0 vision and her left eye slightly worse at 0.9. However, the lack of sharpness has made it difficult for her to see clearly, forcing her to return for further consultation.
Dr. Tsai noted that most patients expect significant improvement in their vision after surgery. When the results fall short of expectations, their daily life and work are affected, such as the inconvenience of being unable to drive at night. A small number of patients may even develop depressive tendencies due to regret and frustration.
