In the crackdown on the flow of toxic starch, the Food and Drug Administration has seized an additional 7.4 tons of related raw materials and products. Another downstream manufacturer has been implicated—New Taipei City's "Dong Peng Food" had 200 kilograms of rice noodles recalled and removed from shelves. Meanwhile, "Xie Qi Starch Factory" failed to provide clear information on the distribution of its products and has been referred to prosecutors. The hunt for toxic starch continues. On the 15th, the Food and Drug Administration under the Department of Health released the latest enforcement data, seizing over seven tons of related raw materials and products. In addition to the original two suppliers and four downstream manufacturers, another business supplying problematic starch products has been identified.
Pan Zhi-Kuan, Director of the Regional Management Center at the Food and Drug Administration, stated: "The latest volume of maleic acid-related products recalled due to risk now stands at 32.4 tons, an increase of 7.4 tons. One newly added manufacturer sourced raw starch from Yi He Starch Company to produce bulk rice noodles. This manufacturer is Dong Peng Food Co., Ltd., with 200 kilograms recalled."
As for the implicated Xie Qi Starch Factory, due to unclear disclosure of product distribution, the New Taipei City Health Bureau has referred the case to prosecutors for further investigation.
