Regarding the incident of maleic anhydride-modified starch (toxic starch), the Food and Drug Administration, in collaboration with local health bureaus, continues its investigations. As of today (4th), approximately 393.84 metric tons of non-compliant products have been recalled, sealed, and destroyed, with an additional 132.42 metric tons awaiting destruction. Affected commercial products involving the implicated starch now include rice noodles and crystal dumplings, which are currently being tallied by health bureaus for recall and sealing.

For verified non-compliant products, local health bureaus have ordered their removal from shelves, halted sales, and mandated returns to upstream distributors or manufacturers for prompt destruction by the health bureaus. Today, new recall and sealing data for two additional items, "rice noodles" and "crystal dumplings," are being tallied by health bureaus.

Previously implicated starches include sweet potato starch, taro starch, crispy frying powder, tempura powder, clear powder, wheat starch, coarse powder, oyster omelet powder, and rice flour. Affected commercial products include tapioca pearls, taro balls, flat rice noodles, fish paste products (such as oden and tempura), meatballs, tofu pudding, rice cakes, meat thick soup, New Year cakes, rice noodles, and crystal dumplings. Among these, rice noodles and crystal dumplings are newly added items. Preliminary investigations by the New Taipei City, Hsinchu City, and Changhua County health bureaus revealed that the supplier of the raw flour for rice noodles is Sanfa Trading Company, with the manufacturer being Maoli Company. The raw flour for crystal dumplings was supplied by Taiwan Northern Starch Company, with the manufacturer being Baosen Starch Trading—both of which are previously identified implicated businesses.

As of this evening, approximately 393.84 metric tons of non-compliant products have been recalled, sealed, and destroyed, with 261.42 metric tons already destroyed and 132.42 metric tons awaiting destruction. Implicated businesses include one distributor of "maleic anhydride," three dealers, nine manufacturers of maleic anhydride-modified starch, 27 sales agents, and 14 branded packaged products.
