June 11, 2014 [Taiwan Awakening News Reporter Chen Zhengjian Comprehensive Report]

Men who want to become fathers, take note: frequently placing your phone in your pants pocket may lead to infertility. With technological advancements and the increasing popularity of smartphones, almost everyone owns at least one phone, and some even carry two or three. However, male friends should be cautious. According to research from the University of Exeter in the UK, some people like to keep their phones in their pants pockets. When the phone rings, it emits electromagnetic waves, which may damage sperm and harm reproductive ability.

Reports on the dangers of mobile phone electromagnetic waves to the human body are endless. Some studies suggest that phones increase the risk of brain cancer, while others indicate that using phones before bed is a major cause of headaches and insomnia. The University of Exeter analyzed ten studies involving 1,492 cases, seven of which focused on sperm motility and three on male infertility patients. The analysis included sperm motility, concentration, and viability.

In the control group, 50%-85% of sperm exhibited normal activity. However, in the "mobile phone exposure group," sperm motility decreased by 8.1%, and sperm viability dropped by 9.1%. The impact of mobile phones on sperm concentration, however, remains unclear.

Fiona Mathews, a professor of biosciences at the University of Exeter, pointed out that prolonged exposure of male reproductive organs to electromagnetic waves negatively affects sperm quality. This study serves as a warning for men with fertility issues, but further clinical trials are needed for verification.

Previous research has shown that mobile phone electromagnetic waves increase unstable oxidative compounds in DNA, severely damaging sperm. Additionally, other studies indicate that when men place their phones in their pants, skin temperature rises by 2.3 degrees Celsius, interfering with sperm production.

However, Huang Jianrong, director of the Infertility Center at Shin Kong Hospital, stated in an interview that while high temperatures undoubtedly reduce sperm count, the impact of mobile phone electromagnetic waves on sperm requires more research to confirm. Studies on electromagnetic waves causing brain tumors, among others, also remain inconclusive.
