**China Times, June 28, 2009 [Yan Jiyu / Comprehensive Foreign Report on the 27th]**

American rock legend Michael Jackson passed away suddenly on the 25th. After an autopsy by the Los Angeles County Coroner, his body was released to his family and is currently resting at a funeral home. Coroner’s office spokesperson Harvey stated that preliminary findings ruled out death by external trauma or foul play. However, Jackson had taken several prescription drugs before his death, necessitating extensive toxicology tests. The cause of death is expected to take four to six weeks to determine.

Although the investigation into the cause of death is still ongoing, Jackson’s physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has already become a target of public scrutiny. Many suspect that Murray overmedicated Jackson, who was preparing for a comeback concert, leading to the tragedy. Jackson’s close friend and New Age spiritual guru Deepak Chopra said in an interview, "Michael was killed by drugs." A former producer of Jackson’s went further, accusing the doctors surrounding the superstar of being criminals. It is also reported that Jackson insisted that the organizers of his upcoming London concerts in July hire Murray to accompany him.

**Murray Performed CPR on Him**

The Los Angeles Police Department briefly questioned Murray on the 25th and is expected to summon him again in the coming days to clarify Jackson’s medication history. On the 26th, police also impounded Murray’s BMW, which was parked at Jackson’s residence, as it may contain drugs related to the singer’s death.

Murray specializes in cardiology and had served as Jackson’s personal physician for three years. He also runs clinics in California, Nevada, and Texas but has faced frequent financial troubles and legal disputes in recent years. When Jackson suffered cardiac arrest on the 25th, Murray performed CPR on him.

**Custody Battle Over Three Children**

According to the UK’s *Daily Mail*, Jackson was taking or injecting at least eight prescription drugs daily in preparation for his 50-concert tour starting July 13. These included three painkillers—Demerol, Dilaudid, and Vicodin—as well as the muscle relaxant Soma, the sedative Xanax, and the antidepressants Zoloft and Paxil. Experts warn that mixing these drugs is akin to playing with fire.

Jackson’s relatives are currently staying in Encino, north of Los Angeles, including his three children: Prince Michael, 12; Paris Katherine, 11; and Prince Michael II (Blanket), 7.

In the future, custody of Prince and Paris is expected to revert to their biological mother, Debbie Rowe, Jackson’s second ex-wife. However, Jackson’s siblings may strongly oppose this. The situation is even more complicated for Prince Michael II, who was born via a surrogate mother.

**Estate and Debt Disputes Could Drag On for Years**

Estimates of Jackson’s assets and liabilities remain highly speculative. Experts believe disputes over valuation, distribution, and debt settlement could take years to resolve.

Current estimates place Jackson’s debts at around $400 to $500 million. However, he owned a 50% stake in Sony/ATV Music Publishing, valued at approximately $2 billion. Additionally, Jackson’s heirs hold another lucrative asset: his image rights. For example, Elvis Presley, who passed away 32 years ago, still generates over $520 million annually for CKX, the company that owns his likeness. Jackson’s posthumous earnings are expected to surpass even that.Source: http:/ / news. chinatimes. com/ 2……1036+112009062800170,00. html

The British *Sun* exclusively disclosed the autopsy report of pop music legend Michael Jackson on the 29th. According to the report, Michael had become emaciated to the point of resembling a skeleton before his death, weighing only 51 kilograms. His hair was nearly gone, and his hips, thighs, and shoulders were covered in needle marks from painkiller injections. His face bore multiple scars believed to be from 13 plastic surgeries, and his nasal bridge had disappeared.

Michael was extremely concerned about his appearance throughout his life. However, according to the autopsy report obtained exclusively by *The Sun*, the 5'10" (approximately 178 cm) star weighed only 92 pounds and 1 ounce (about 51 kg) at the time of his death, barely resembling a human. The autopsy revealed his stomach was empty, containing only half-dissolved pills and no food. It was said Michael suffered from anorexia and ate only one meal a day.

**Face Covered in Scars, Right Nose Partially Collapsed**

The autopsy report also noted that Michael had almost no hair left. He was wearing a wig at the time of his death, but beneath it, his scalp had only sparse, downy hair. Above his left ear was a completely bald scar, likely left from an accident in 1984 when his hair caught fire while filming a Pepsi commercial.

The report stated that Michael had several broken ribs, likely caused by emergency responders performing CPR. There were four injection marks above and near his heart, apparently from direct adrenaline injections to restart his heartbeat. Three of the injections penetrated the heart wall, while one hit a rib. Additionally, there were unexplained abrasions on the surface of his knees and shins.

Michael was quite handsome in his youth, but years of plastic surgeries had drastically altered his appearance. The autopsy report described his face as covered in surgical scars, with his nasal bridge missing and the right side of his nose partially collapsed.

**Surviving Only on Pills, Reduced to Skin and Bones**

A source close to Michael said his family and fans would be horrified to learn of his pitiable condition before death—emaciated to skin and bones, hairless, and surviving only on pills. "His doctors and those around him watched him self-destruct and did nothing. Someone must pay for this," the source added.

Dr. Conrad Murray, who performed CPR on Michael, was interviewed by Los Angeles police on the 28th. Reports indicate Murray had been hired to care for Michael just 11 days prior. Through his lawyer, Murray denied prescribing or administering painkillers to Michael or injecting him with drugs before his death, as some reports claimed. He also emphasized that when he first discovered Michael unconscious, the star had no breath but still had a faint pulse.

Murray’s lawyer, who accompanied him during the police interview, stated that the doctor was also shocked by Michael’s sudden collapse and cessation of breathing. Although Michael barely ate or drank, there were no signs that would have alerted Murray to the possibility of sudden death.

**Michael’s Anxiety Over Performances: Feared Being Killed If He Backed Out**

Los Angeles police stated that Dr. Murray was not considered a suspect. Sources also said no suspicious criminal behavior was detected during the interview. However, experts noted that Michael’s broken ribs suggested significant negligence in Murray’s CPR efforts. Meanwhile, Michael’s family is reportedly planning a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Murray.

Michael was scheduled to perform 50 concerts in London starting July 13. *The Sun* reported that he was deeply anxious about his comeback, even experiencing stage fright for the first time. An assistant revealed that Michael believed he would be killed if he withdrew from the concerts citing health reasons.Source: http:/ / showbiz. chinatimes. co……0106+112009063000172,00. html
