Office workers who always eat out and sit in front of computers all day should pay attention to irregular bowel movements. According to a survey by 1111 Job Bank, nearly 80% of office workers are at high risk of colon cancer. Nutrition expert Xie Mingzhe urges the public to supplement with lactic acid bacteria and xylooligosaccharides to aid digestion and improve the intestinal environment. Additionally, Wu Ruiying, Executive Vice President of 1111 Job Bank, suggests that companies should regularly organize employee sports events or health check-ups and arrange morning or afternoon exercises to collectively maintain physical health.
Among the top ten causes of death, cancer has ranked first for 27 consecutive years, with colon cancer being the most common among Taiwanese. In high-pressure workplaces, office workers often suffer from unbalanced nutrition due to eating out, irregular lifestyles, and poor bowel habits. According to 1111's statistics, 86% of office workers experience gastrointestinal issues, with the top three being constipation, inability to defecate daily, and poor bowel movements.
Xie Mingzhe, a professor in the Department of Health Nutrition at Taipei Medical University, stated that office workers who eat more and move less or frequently socialize are indeed at high risk of colon cancer. He recommends that office workers prepare antioxidant-rich colorful fruits and vegetables to boost their immunity. Additionally, he advises reducing meat intake and increasing vegetable consumption, as meat can lead to bad bacteria decomposing in the intestines, causing constipation, reducing cell activity, and triggering colon cancer.
To improve gastrointestinal motility internally, aside from regular exercise and dietary changes, Xie Mingzhe suggests supplementing with xylooligosaccharides to promote lactic acid bacteria that aid bowel movements. He emphasizes that xylooligosaccharides help beneficial bacteria multiply and suppress the living space of harmful bacteria.
Wu Ruiying warns office workers not to ignore constipation, as any poor bowel habits can become invisible killers. He notes that paying attention to stool color and shape can serve as a reminder. Xie Mingzhe adds that healthy bowel movements should be golden or brown and float on water.
