A junior high school student in Taipei County was beaten up by a gang member at school. The family reported the incident to the Sanchong Precinct, but the police refused to handle the case. Later, they were asked to identify the officer who mishandled the report. Unwilling to come forward, the family was shocked when the police posted a notice on their doorstep, exposing all their personal information. Furious, the family moved overnight, accusing the police of pushing them to the brink.
Crying uncontrollably while hurriedly packing to move, Ms. Gao became emotional at the thought of gang members possibly showing up at any moment. Her son was beaten by an older student at school, and the idea of returning after the break terrified him.
What drove the mother and son to flee was the notice posted by the police on their doorstep, which clearly displayed their names, ID numbers, home address, and even the reason for their initial report.
Ms. Gao explained that after her junior high school son was assaulted, she first reported it to the Sanchong Precinct, but the officers refused to take action. She then turned to the Taipei City Juvenile Division. Unexpectedly, the Sanchong Precinct’s Inspection Unit later called, asking her to identify the officer who mishandled the case. When she declined, the police posted the notice at her home.
Ms. Gao found the police’s actions unbelievable, and her son became even more afraid of going to school. The Sanchong Precinct declined to comment directly. Ignoring public perception, the police failed to provide the first line of protection, leaving the mother and son to face potential threats on their own.
