A Japanese study suggests that children wearing shoes that are too small or tight can impair blood circulation and metabolism, leading to loss of appetite. Similarly, adults wearing ill-fitting shoes may also experience reduced appetite, especially women. Prolonged use of high heels could potentially cause anorexia.
Many fashionable women prefer wearing very high heels or narrow-toed shoes, which can easily cause foot pain, squeeze the toes, and hinder blood circulation in the feet. This, in turn, affects brain circulation, reducing blood supply to the lateral hypothalamic area—the feeding center—and triggering anorexia.
The study states that human foot bones typically do not fully mature until around the ages of 15 or 16, and shoe size directly impacts their development.
