Old folk remedies should sometimes be taken with a grain of salt. One elderly woman, believing in an ancient beauty remedy, applied edible sesame oil to her face for skincare. Not only did she use it herself, but she also had her daughter and granddaughter try it. In the end, all three suffered severe skin allergies, with their faces breaking out in acne so badly that they nearly ruined their skin.

An elderly woman, trusting a folk remedy, used commercially available sesame oil as a facial skincare product, thinking it was both cheap and beautifying. She even had her daughter and young granddaughter try it. However, the sesame oil was too greasy, causing their faces to break out in numerous pimples. The 4-month-old granddaughter even developed what looked like burn marks on her face.

Dermatologist Zhao Zhaoming explained that older generations often believed in applying oily substances to the face. The grandmother assumed sesame oil had the same effect and applied it. However, edible oils are not "purified," making it impossible for pores to breathe and instead causing skin allergies. Currently, the family is undergoing treatment, with the daughter's condition being the most severe—requiring long-term antibiotics to recover.

Dr. Zhao Zhaoming urged the public not to blindly trust folk remedies and recklessly apply substances to their faces. Some products may not moisturize but could instead damage the skin. He advised people not to take risks with their skin. (News Source: ETTV Reporters Xie An'an and Yang Shangren)
