A frontal system passing through has brought sandstorms from northern China, causing hazy skies in Miaoli and the greater Taichung area since before noon. Medical professionals from major healthcare institutions noted that based on past experience, whenever sandstorms strike, not only does the total amount of suspended particles surge, but larger particles may also carry harmful bacteria. These particles can not only attack the respiratory system but also pose significant harm to eye tissues.

Yeh Yen-po, Director of the Changhua County Health Bureau, also pointed out that when sandstorms from mainland China hit central Taiwan, they often coincide with sand and dust hazards from coastal beaches and the Dadu and Zhuoshui Rivers. Therefore, he advised individuals with eye or respiratory diseases, as well as those with allergic constitutions, to avoid going outdoors after noon if possible.

This wave of sandstorms arrived suddenly and swiftly. Although the suspended particle index in central Taiwan is not yet extremely high, disease prevention personnel still recommend that those who must go outside or are exposed to outdoor environments for extended periods take protective measures, such as wearing glasses and masks, to guard against the health impacts of sand and dust.
