A reporter from China News Service learned from the Henan Provincial Health Department that patients treated with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the province have shown varying degrees of improvement in their physical symptoms.
According to a relevant official from the Henan Provincial Health Department, based on the current clinical treatment of AIDS with TCM in Henan, over 50% of patients experienced improvement in more than 80% of their symptoms. Notably, symptoms such as herpes, mucosal ulcers, and lymphadenopathy showed significant improvement, and the incidence of major symptoms and signs was markedly reduced.
Experts have demonstrated that TCM treatment can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of AIDS patients, enhance their quality of life, boost immune function, reduce the toxic side effects of antiviral drugs, decrease the occurrence of opportunistic infections, and restore labor capacity to varying degrees.
As early as 2004, following a national unified plan, Henan launched a pilot project for TCM treatment of AIDS in nine pilot counties across the province. Additionally, Henan has incorporated TCM treatment into its comprehensive AIDS prevention and control system.
