Scientists Confirm Fish Oil Has No Health Benefits

According to a report by the British newspaper *The Independent* on March 24, for over 20 years, doctors have repeatedly advised their patients to eat more fatty fish to improve heart health. Consuming mackerel, salmon, and similar fish twice a week was once considered an effective way to help prevent cardiovascular diseases. However, a new large-scale study now suggests that this advice from doctors may be incorrect.

Additionally, science has shown that many traditional claims in the medical field are actually wrong.

Scientists reviewed at least 89 studies on omega-3 fatty acids—once believed to be the primary component in fish oil that could prevent heart disease—but found no significant evidence to prove that omega-3 fatty acids offer any health benefits. Researchers from the University of East Anglia and eight other public institutions stated that after synthesizing the results of various studies, they found no strong evidence supporting the idea that omega-3 fatty acids prevent heart disease, stroke, or cancer.

If these findings are confirmed, the top-ranking status of fish oil products in the medical claims hierarchy will be overturned.

In fact, apart from fish oil misleading people for so many years, there are other misconceptions in the medical field, such as: fiber prevents colon cancer; vitamin C cures the common cold; spinal manipulation relieves pain; sedatives treat anxiety; and removing tonsils prevents throat infections. However, decades of experiments have proven that all these claims are unfounded, leading to futile attempts by patients who self-treat or seek treatment. Scientists point out that it is time to set the record straight.
