The plasticizer storm has caused widespread panic among parents across Taiwan, leading to a surge in hospital consultations about children's penis size by several times. China Medical University Hospital cited a 2006 study published in the *Journal of the Taiwan Pediatric Association* titled "Average Penis Length of Male Infants Under 5 Years Old in Taiwan," which found that the average length is about 0.5 cm shorter than that of foreign counterparts.

According to *Apple Daily*, Wang Zhongxing, director of the Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism Department at China Medical University, stated that parents concerned about the plasticizer crisis can first measure their child's penis length and only seek medical attention if it falls below the standard value, without excessive worry. Wang further explained that the hospital collected data from 2,126 male infants aged 0–5 years between 2001 and 2002, measuring their penis lengths. The statistics showed that the average length for newborns aged 0–1 month was 1.9 cm, 2.2 cm for infants aged 1–6 months, 2.6 cm for boys aged 1–3 years, and 2.7 cm for boys aged 3–5 years. Compared internationally, these averages are about 0.5 cm shorter.

Currently, the hospital is also collecting case studies to determine whether, in addition to genetic and endocrine factors, external influences such as plasticizer exposure may affect the genital development of male children.
