There is progress on mainland students coming to Taiwan. The Ministry of Education today released a policy, with the earliest legal amendments expected in October this year. By next winter break, the duration for mainland students to study in Taiwan will be extended from the current 4 months to 1 year. Additionally, Premier Liu Chao-shiuan stated that the recognition of degrees from "good universities" in mainland China, as well as allowing domestic universities to establish continuing education and in-service training classes in mainland China, can be promoted through cross-strait negotiations.

As for the implementation timeline, according to the Ministry of Education's plan, some items could start as early as October or November, while others requiring further planning or negotiation are hoped to be implemented by January to February next year. Liu Chao-shiuan expressed satisfaction with this timeline.

Minister of Education Cheng Jei-cheng reported the "Expanding Cross-Strait Academic Exchange" plan to Premier Liu this morning, which includes extending the study duration for mainland students in Taiwan from 4 months to 1 year, setting quotas for mainland students to pursue degrees in Taiwan, recognizing mainland academic qualifications, and allowing domestic universities to offer continuing education and in-service training classes in mainland China.

The Ministry of Education stated that the extension of the study period for mainland students could apply to those arriving as early as next winter break. Other items require further legal amendments and negotiations, and a definitive timeline will be announced as soon as possible.
