[Pan Chengwang, Pingtung Fangshan]

Global warming has altered the routines of many living organisms. The timing of plant flowering has changed, leading to a decrease in honey production. A beekeeper from Pingtung County, whose family has been in the beekeeping business for three generations, mentioned that honey prices have not been adjusted for 20 years, and with the current reduction in yield, life has become increasingly difficult.

Chen Mingxu, who works with bees every day, harvests honey with skilled movements. Having kept bees in Fangshan Township for 20 years, the honey he produces is a local specialty known as "Pujiang Flower Honey." Chen Mingxu stated that beekeeping was a good business 20 years ago, but changes in the environment and climate have altered the routines of living organisms and reduced honey production.

Every task in beekeeping must be done manually. Beekeepers in Taiwan not only face competitive pressure from imported honey but also have to contend with unpredictable weather and a gradual decline in honey production. Coupled with prices that haven't been adjusted for 20 years, they lament that beekeeping is becoming a declining sunset industry.
