[Reporter Lin Liangzhe / Taichung Report]

A female dentist surnamed Lai in Taichung City discovered during a consultation that a part-time worker surnamed Chen had not cleaned the bloodstains on the instruments properly. Lai allegedly demanded that Chen lick the bloodstains clean and eat them, forced her to kneel and apologize, called her a liar, and ultimately threw two bags of trash at her. Unable to endure the humiliation, Chen filed a lawsuit. The prosecutor has charged the female dentist with public insult.

Refusing to lick the bloodstains, Chen was scolded and had trash thrown at her.

When reporters visited the clinic yesterday, the female dentist surnamed Lai was not seeing patients. Her colleagues stated that Lai is usually very kind to patients, and everyone acknowledges her medical skills and ethics. They suggested that her actions might have been a result of momentary anger and that she did not genuinely intend for the part-time worker to "lick clean" or "eat" the bloodstains on the instruments.

The indictment stated that Lai worked at a dental clinic on Taiyuan Road in Taichung City. In July of this year, she discovered that Chen, the part-time worker, had not cleaned the instruments properly, with bloodstains remaining on the probes and tooth extraction tools. Enraged, Lai allegedly scolded Chen in public and demanded that she "lick clean" and "eat" the bloodstains on the instruments.

When Chen refused to comply, Lai allegedly forced her to kneel and apologize and made her stand for two hours as punishment. When Chen still refused, Lai called her a "liar" and threw two bags of trash at her face and body.

The prosecutor charged Lai with public insult.

Unable to endure the humiliation, Chen filed a lawsuit. During the investigation, Lai denied ever demanding that Chen "lick clean" or "eat" the bloodstains on the instruments and also denied forcing her to stand as punishment. She only admitted to throwing trash at Chen. However, the prosecutor summoned four employees who were present that day, and they all testified that Lai had indeed engaged in the aforementioned behavior.

The prosecutor concluded that although Lai was Chen's supervisor, she could not demand that Chen "lick clean" or "eat" the bloodstains on the instruments, force her to kneel and apologize, or call her a "liar" simply because she made a mistake. Lai's public actions were sufficient to damage Chen's social reputation and personal dignity.
