Coronary heart disease patients fear myocardial infarction the most. About 20 to 30% of patients experience dangerous arrhythmias in the early stages of myocardial infarction, and delayed treatment will inevitably lead to death.

Liao Fengde and artist Ma Zhaojun are unfortunate cases of death caused by myocardial infarction. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was also diagnosed with a high risk of myocardial infarction due to unstable angina and underwent surgical treatment.

Li Binzhou, director of the emergency department at Taipei City United Hospital Renai Branch, stated that heart disease is the main cause of sudden death. In the case of myocardial infarction, 99% of the causes are related to coronary artery thrombosis. A U.S. study data pointed out that 52% of people die before reaching the hospital. Yuan Mingqi, director of cardiac surgery at Taipei City United Hospital, also said that 60% of people die at the onset, 30% to 40% have a chance to be sent to the hospital for treatment, but the survival rate is only 10%.

Yuan Mingqi pointed out that when myocardial infarction occurs, if the blocked blood vessel is the right coronary artery or the left anterior descending coronary artery, dangerous arrhythmias, abnormal myocardial discharge, and ventricular fibrillation will occur, making myocardial contraction completely inefficient, and the heart almost unable to pump blood, which may cause myocardial necrosis.

Li Binzhou said that within 3 to 10 days of myocardial infarction, the necrotic part of the myocardium may cause heart rupture due to the incoordination of the heart's contraction force and the inability to withstand the pressure generated by myocardial contraction.
