Starting today, the "Agricultural Production and Certification Management Act" officially comes into effect. The Council of Agriculture (COA) will manage all organic agricultural products on the market according to the law! Domestic organic agricultural products and processed agricultural products must obtain certification from a "certification body" approved by the COA and affix the CAS organic label to be sold as organic. Imported organic agricultural products and processed agricultural products must first apply to the COA for an organic labeling approval document before they can be sold on the market. Additionally, the product packaging must simultaneously display the certification mark of the exporting country. In other words, from now on, when consumers choose to purchase organic agricultural products or processed agricultural products, as long as they recognize the CAS organic label, it is a government-guaranteed genuine organic product. On the market, various organic agricultural products are labeled with certification marks from different countries and certification bodies. Many people are confused about whether these products are truly organic or not. Starting now, organic agricultural products and processed agricultural products will finally have a strict management system. The "Agricultural Production and Certification Management Act" officially comes into effect, and both domestic and imported organic agricultural products will be managed by the COA according to the law. Agricultural products that do not comply with the legal regulations can no longer be sold on the market under the name of organic.
Cai Jingqiang, Deputy Director of the COA's Agriculture and Food Agency, stated that common imported organic agricultural products on the market must now first apply to the COA for an organic labeling approval document before they can be sold. Additionally, the packaging must simultaneously display the organic certification mark of the exporting country. Cai Jingqiang said: "The COA has announced 16 countries that have organic equivalence with Taiwan, including the UK, France, Austria, and others. Their organic agricultural products, after review, can be imported and sold in Taiwan if approved."
Domestic organic agricultural products will be reviewed and certified by certification bodies approved by the COA and will uniformly affix the CAS organic label for easy identification by consumers.
