One Soda A Day Raises Women's Stroke Risk by 80%

Female friends who enjoy drinking soda should not only be cautious about obesity but also take note of the latest research from Japan, which indicates that drinking one soda daily increases the risk of stroke by 83% compared to those who don’t consume it. Domestic doctors believe that soda, being a high-sugar beverage, inherently burdens blood vessels. Additionally, since women tend to be less physically active than men, their risk of stroke is further heightened.

The sweet and tangy taste of soda makes it a refreshing treat on hot days. However, drinking soda as if it were water not only leads to unnoticed weight gain but also poses a stroke risk for women, as warned by recent Japanese research. The study, which tracked 40,000 men and women aged 40–59 for 18 years, found that women who drank one soda daily had an 83% higher risk of developing blood clots or ischemic stroke compared to those who didn’t. No significant correlation was observed in men.

Regarding this study, domestic doctors argue that not just soda but any high-sugar diet, when consumed excessively, can increase bodily strain. Why do women face a higher risk of stroke and cardiovascular diseases from drinking soda than men? Doctors attribute this mainly to lower physical activity levels among women.

Doctors recommend limiting sugary beverage intake to no more than 300cc per day to avoid overwhelming the body’s ability to metabolize excess sugar, which could compromise health.
