Just found a photocopied document at home in Taichung, pressed by mom on the living room table. It's a photocopied email titled: "Life, is the cells crying for help!"
In the text, Dr. Li Feng mentions that people should admit: illness is their own responsibility, strive to reflect, change behavior, and treat their cells well. Someone who had a trip in three days demanded the doctor to cure his illness within three days. She said, the illness cannot improve this way, only by relaxing can the cells have a chance to breathe.
The doctor said: the body is a seamless chemical factory, with sixty trillion cells working for us. We need to understand our cells, respect our cells, and treat our cells well. Providing light raw materials, exercising, and maintaining a regular routine to offer a good environment for the cells to work, so the cells can smoothly carry out chemical reactions, work efficiently, and our bodies will improve...
It's often heard that one should go to sleep by 11 PM every night for the liver to detoxify, and doctors often warn against eating cold things, but the reason isn't understood. Dr. Li Feng explains it quite clearly in this article.
She said: the liver and gallbladder system will be congested and detoxify from 11 PM to 3 AM. If the body lies flat during this time, the liver can be positioned correctly, congested to two or three times its size, ensuring sufficient blood flow, thorough detoxification, and a healthy liver. Standing or sitting reduces blood flow by about thirty percent, and exercising reduces it by fifty to eighty percent.
As for the stomach? Gastric juice is hotter than body temperature, and the stomach needs this temperature to work. Eating cold food causes the temperature of the gastric juice to drop sharply, forcing the stomach cells to stop working until other organs transfer heat to the stomach, allowing the temperature of the gastric juice to rise and work to continue.
My TCM doctor, Li Ruying, is quite famous in Hsinchu, starting to accept appointments for the day at 5 AM every morning, usually fully booked by around 6 AM.
I originally had an unrealistic expectation, hoping that after taking a few packets of medicine, my gastrointestinal condition would significantly improve within a week, and I wouldn't need to make another appointment. Three weeks have passed, there's some improvement, but not as "significant" as I thought, even doubting whether this famous doctor really understands my illness.
My gastrointestinal cells are crying out for help, and I thought a few packets of Chinese medicine could satisfy them, without making a firm decision to change my behavior and provide a good environment for the cells to work, feeling very ashamed...

Li Feng
Graduated from the Department of Medicine at National Taiwan University College of Medicine, Li Feng pursued further studies in Canada. In the third year of her graduate studies, she was diagnosed with cancer. After returning to Taiwan, she taught at the National Taiwan University College of Medicine and served as a pathologist at National Taiwan University Hospital, retiring in 1998. She is currently the head of Li Feng Pathology Center.
Aside from her teaching, research, and medical practice, Dr. Li Feng frequently publishes articles in newspapers and magazines. Her published books include "Who Says Cancer is Incurable?" (Health Culture Publishing), "How to Fight Cancer" (Health Culture Publishing), "Relax, Let the Body Speak" (Crown Publishing), and "Health is Up to You" (Yushan She Xingyue Bookroom Publishing).
As a medical professional, Li Feng was diagnosed with cancer just as her career was about to take off. Through various setbacks, she stumbled upon the principles of coexisting peacefully with cancer. As a result, she has lived healthier and healthier, and now, 30 years later, cancer has become an old friend who has accompanied her for many years.
Now, Li Feng hopes to share her 30 years of experience with everyone, conveying that instead of fiercely battling cancer, it is better to face it with an attitude of peaceful coexistence, thereby creating a healthy and quality life.
For Li Feng, having cancer once cast a shadow over her life, with her boyfriend leaving, losing her job, and the side effects of chemotherapy bringing her both physical and psychological pain. However, in the end, these became just a phase in her life, and her attitude towards cancer evolved from "fighting" to "peaceful coexistence." As a pathologist, she understands and knows cells, so she says: "For over 30 years, I have observed the birth, aging, illness, and death of cells under the microscope. Gradually, I have been able to see through the pain and helplessness of cells, and I have learned to empathize with the feelings of cells when disasters strike the cellular world. If everyone could, like me, know, understand, and learn to respect cells, then not only could they transcend illness, but they could even transcend cancer."
