Huang Yuyao, the son of Huang Zhongshan, director of Hsinchu Tung's Hospital and son-in-law of United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) honorary vice chairman Robert Tsao, secretly went to ride a heavy motorcycle on Miaoli’s Provincial Highway 3 yesterday without informing his family. However, while navigating a series of winding turns, he allegedly lost control due to excessive speed, skidded into the opposite lane, and collided with a car. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. His father, overwhelmed with grief, tearfully lamented that he should have strictly forbidden his son from riding, never imagining such a tragic outcome.
The fatal accident claimed Huang Yuyao’s precious life, leaving his mother inconsolable and nearly fainting from sorrow. Huang Zhongshan, Huang Yuyao’s father and director of Hsinchu Tung's Hospital, expressed deep regret for not strictly prohibiting his son from riding heavy motorcycles. The impact of the crash was severe—Huang Yuyao’s green heavy motorcycle bore scratches on both sides, with debris scattered everywhere, and the rider himself could not escape death.
Huang Zhongshan’s son-in-law recounted, "The doctors at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital were looking for him, and when we called, a nurse answered, saying he was undergoing emergency treatment." Police suspect that Huang Yuyao may have been unfamiliar with the road conditions and was speeding, leading to loss of control. The accident occurred at the 104.5 km mark of Provincial Highway 3 in Miaoli’s Sanwan Township, a downhill section with continuous sharp turns, known for its high risk. Despite frequent police checkpoints, many heavy motorcycles were still seen speeding through the same stretch that morning.
Such dangerous curves are a favorite among heavy motorcycle enthusiasts. Robert Tsao visited the site in the morning and decided to donate funds for installing dividers and other safety measures along the winding sections of Provincial Highway 3, hoping to prevent similar tragedies from happening to others.
