The cost of producing each tea bag was less than NT$3, but suspects surnamed Hsu and Chu sold them to pharmacies for NT$20 per bag, making huge profits. While the packaging claimed a "sennoside" content of 6mg, actual testing revealed shockingly high levels. The daily intake should not exceed 12mg, but these products exceeded the standard by three times. Long-term consumption could cause acute kidney failure.
