The scandal over tainted cooking oil continues to escalate, with various sectors launching boycotts against Ting Hsin and Wei Chuan. Today (14th), the Tzu Chi Foundation deemed the "Xiang Ji Noodles" produced by Wei Chuan safe and refused to remove them from shelves. This prompted scholar Yang Chung-hsin to criticize on Facebook, "Venerable Master Cheng Yen, whose side are you on? The side of the people, or the side of unscrupulous devotees?"
In his Facebook post, Yang Chung-hsin pointed out that last year, Ting Hsin was involved in the scandal of adulterating oil with copper chlorophyllin from Chang Chi Foodstuff Factory. At the time, Master Cheng Yen reminded her devotee Wei Ying-chung to "eat well, sleep well, and remember to take your medicine!" Yet now, Wei Ying-chung not only followed her advice but also "remembered to keep treating us like pigs, selling us tainted oil and trampling on us!"
He noted that various sectors have initiated boycott actions, and even the "Ma-Chiang administration" was forced to convene a national security meeting to declare their "resolve" in addressing food safety issues. However, Tzu Chi's attitude and actions remain baffling.
He harshly criticized Tzu Chi, writing, "The Venerable Master remains silent, the 'Great Love' station stays mute, and the tainted noodles stay on the shelves—completely disregarding their image! Venerable Master Cheng Yen, whose side are you on? The side of the people, or the side of unscrupulous devotees?"

Venerable Master Cheng Yen, whose side are you on? The side of the people, or the side of unscrupulous devotees?
Last year, when the Ting Hsin Group was exposed for adulterating oil with copper chlorophyllin from Chang Chi Foodstuff Factory, Tzu Chi’s Master Cheng Yen reminded her devotee Wei Ying-chung to "eat well, sleep well, and remember to take your medicine!" The result? Wei Ying-chung indeed "ate well, slept well, and remembered to take his medicine"—and also remembered to keep treating us like pigs, selling us tainted oil and trampling on us!
Now, as the latest Ting Hsin tainted oil scandal has erupted, the entire nation is outraged, launching boycotts. Retailers have pulled Ting Hsin Group products from shelves, and the Ma-Chiang administration was forced to convene a national security meeting to declare their "resolve" in addressing food safety issues. Yet, Tzu Chi’s attitude and actions remain baffling: the Venerable Master stays silent, the "Great Love" station says nothing, and the tainted noodles remain on sale—completely disregarding their image!
