Ting Hsin oil products have been found problematic, and its subsidiary Matsusei supermarket is also involved. The Taichung City Health Bureau received a report yesterday indicating that Matsusei supermarket allegedly repackaged expired ingredients into boxed meals or cooked food for sale, effectively causing consumers to ingest expired materials—an egregious practice. The Taichung City Health Bureau conducted inspections across 14 Matsusei supermarkets in its jurisdiction yesterday and found four stores using expired ingredients to repackage or relabel 15 types of cooked food for sale.

Zhang Ruilin, chief secretary of the Health Bureau, stated that the inspection uncovered the "Guangfu Branch" of Matsusei supermarket using expired Zhang’s garlic-flavored sausages (expiration date June 5, 2014) that were three months past their shelf life to make fried sausages.

The "Liming Branch" relabeled Taiwanese Penghu premium cuttlefish balls originally expiring on September 11, 2014, with a new expiration date of October 14, 2014, for resale.

The "Sanfeng Branch" was found to have used expired ingredients to produce four types of boxed meals: rosemary chicken leg, Norwegian mackerel, Yuanjinzhuang drunken chicken, and cold-smoked chicken. Additionally, eight other products—vegetarian bamboo shoots with mock meat, Korean-style conch meat, Yuanjinzhuang scallion oil chicken leg, grilled premium saury, Norwegian mackerel slices, red yeast braised pork, rosemary chicken leg, and Japanese-style thick-cut pork chop—were relabeled or reheated and repackaged for continued sale.

At the "Dajia Branch," three types of cold noodles (buckwheat bonito broth, original sesame sauce, and Sichuan spicy sesame sauce) and 14 expired side dishes were found stored in refrigerators. The operator admitted plans to repurpose them into boxed meals, violating Article 15 of the Food Safety and Sanitation Management Act.
