Due to drought causing a lack of natural reserves of food and water, bears in Mexico have been forced to leave their mountain habitats in search of survival. Bears can be seen foraging for food and water in the suburbs of Monterrey, the second-largest city.

Mexico has seen little rain recently, leading these bears to abandon their natural habitats in the mountains. Experts say that bears, which are usually very shy of humans, are being seen more frequently in urban areas.

Monterrey's environmental official Sanchez said, "In the past week, we have received 20 reports of black bears appearing in different areas of the city."

Additionally, mountain lions have also been spotted in the foothill areas surrounding Monterrey.

Sanchez said that due to the ongoing drought, "these animals continue to appear in Monterrey and its suburbs."
