Taipei District Prosecutor Zhang Anzhen recently handled a suicide case in which a civil servant was originally set to marry his fiancée, who was pregnant with twins. However, due to disagreements over wedding preparations, the couple argued, and the bride sent a text message saying, "Go die..." Tragically, the groom actually took his own life. At the autopsy scene, the bride broke down in tears, crying, "Those texts were just angry words—I never thought you’d really go and die."

The handling prosecutor lamented: "Fighting is something that requires practice..."

The prosecution determined that the "go die" text was just an angry outburst and did not pursue whether the bride had broken any laws, closing the case. What’s heartbreaking is that the bride was four months pregnant at the time of the incident. Later, she terminated the pregnancy, losing both babies, and returned to her parents' home to recover. One angry phrase cost three lives, leaving the prosecutor deeply moved.

According to the investigation, the groom and bride had decided to marry and welcome their child, but they disagreed on many details. The bride, fighting for her rights while heavily pregnant, insisted on everything from the carat size of the engagement ring to the square footage of their future home. She repeatedly reminded the groom over the phone to "have a conscience" and bombarded him with texts, often playing the victim and emphasizing her struggles and concerns for their child. When she realized the groom couldn’t meet her demands, she resorted to harsh words, such as "useless waste," "so unlucky to marry you," and "your whole family is inhuman." When the groom didn’t respond, she angrily texted, "Go die, I’ll die, let’s all just die together!"

The groom, a low-ranking civil servant, felt powerless to meet the bride’s demands. No matter what he did, she was never satisfied. With a fixed salary and no property to his name, he grew increasingly despondent. In January of this year, after a major argument with the bride, he ended his life without leaving a suicide note.

"Turns out, fighting is something that requires practice. Often, the people you destroy in the heat of anger are the ones you love the most!" This story was recorded by Prosecutor Zhang Anzhen on her blog, sparking responses from netizens. Zhang Anzhen noted that in the heat of anger, it’s easy to forget the real purpose of the argument, turning it into an attack meant to hurt the other person. The original focus of the dispute becomes blurred, but the damage is already done.
