A 9-year-old autistic child from Quzhou, Zhejiang, named Ye Haixiang, can recite the first 615 digits of pi both forwards and backwards, recognize the flags of all countries, and instantly memorize unfamiliar phone numbers.

The "Qianjiang Evening News" described this prodigy, who also suffers from cerebral palsy, as Quzhou's "Little Rain Man," likening him to the protagonist of the Oscar-winning American classic film "Rain Man," who possessed an astonishing memory for numbers.

Every day, Ye undergoes rehabilitation exercises. Due to spasms in his limbs, he cannot walk normally. His 35-year-old teacher, Xu Jianying, constantly corrects his movements and frequently wipes away the drool from the corners of his mouth.

Xu Jianying discovered Ye Haixiang's extraordinary memory two years ago when she forgot another teacher's phone number. Ye, who was nearby, recited it perfectly. When Xu tested him with other phone numbers, he answered them all correctly.

Subsequently, Xu taught Ye to memorize pi and the flags of various countries—challenges he easily mastered. He can flawlessly recite the first 615 digits of pi in both forward and reverse order. Xu believes Ye has even more untapped potential. 990612
