A new study released today suggests that individuals with bipolar disorder or tendencies toward it have higher expectations for success and fame.

Researchers asked 103 participants, including 27 individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder, to complete a questionnaire designed to assess their most ambitious life goals. They rated the likelihood of events such as appearing regularly on television or earning over $20 million happening to them.

Bipolar disorder is a brain condition that causes unusual and often dramatic shifts in mood, energy, and functional abilities.

Professor Sheri L. Johnson from the University of California, USA, stated: "We found that those who have experienced bipolar symptoms in their lives hold the highest expectations for achieving what is commonly perceived as success and financial prosperity."

"This pattern indicates that individuals with bipolar disorder or related tendencies tend to focus intensely on success and fame."

In her article published in the *British Journal of Clinical Psychology*, she noted that people with bipolar disorder are characterized by elevated moods, racing thoughts, talkativeness, and often a strong belief in the importance of success. (Translator: Zheng Shiyun)
