As the Earth's population continues to grow, environmental destruction is accelerating at an alarming rate. Many experts warn that the planet is already crying out in distress. Yellowstone National Park in the U.S. is home to a mysterious and colorful "Grand Prismatic Spring," long speculated to be the possible origin of life on Earth. Yet, it may vanish within the next 50 years.

The rapid increase in human population and the reckless exploitation of resources have caused severe ecological damage. The Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park owes its vibrant hues to bacteria and microalgae. Since these bacteria may have arrived on Earth 4 billion years ago, some believe humans could be descendants of these microorganisms.

However, within 50 years, these dazzling colors may disappear. The current rate of Earth's destruction exceeds any previous record in human history. Yellowstone is home to 3,000 American bison, 500 grizzly bears, as well as wolves, coyotes, and lynxes. Yet outside the park, American bison are vanishing rapidly.

The Amazon River basin in South America is a treasure trove for the planet, hosting half of the world's plant and animal species. However, driven by human desires, forests that have existed for over 400 million years are being indiscriminately logged. Precious trees are exported to make furniture, sold to places like France, leaving monkeys in Peru's forests without habitats.

If human lifestyles remain unchanged, the Earth's resources—whether on land, in the oceans, or rivers—will one day be depleted. The impact could even extend to the atmosphere, leading to catastrophic consequences. Photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand stated, "The current global population is about 6.5 billion, and one-third of us, including ourselves, are severely disrupting the Earth's balance."
