American researchers say that colonic hydrotherapy, favored by many celebrities, offers no health benefits and may even be harmful to the body.

Madonna and Princess Diana, among others, have strongly endorsed this alternative therapy. Originally, colonic hydrotherapy was intended to cleanse toxins from the body, promote the growth of beneficial bacteria, boost the immune system, and even aid in weight loss.

However, research from Georgetown University School of Medicine found that colonic hydrotherapy often causes side effects such as cramps, bloating, nausea, vomiting, kidney failure, or the loss of essential chemicals in the body.

The lead researcher, "Mishori," stated that maintaining good health isn’t difficult. A balanced diet, regular exercise, six to eight hours of sleep daily, and routine medical check-ups are all that’s needed.
