To save primary education in the UK, Britain will promote Confucian thought in primary schools.

Jim Knight, the UK's Minister of State for Schools and Learners, stated that in the UK, students of Chinese descent achieve the best academic results. At the end of primary school, 86% of Chinese students pass their exams, compared to 80% of white students. By the time they graduate from high school, 65% of Chinese students pass their exams, while only 44% of white students do.

Knight recently visited Beijing and toured a local Confucius Institute. In an interview with The Times, Knight mentioned that Chinese people, influenced by Confucian thought, place great emphasis on family and education, which is why Chinese children excel academically. He expressed his hope that every primary school in the UK would offer Chinese language courses and teach Chinese culture in the future. Knight was particularly impressed by the Confucian saying, "Learning without thinking is labor lost; thinking without learning is perilous." He believes that British children do not think enough, which is why their academic performance is lacking.
