There’s a saying, "A headache isn’t an illness, but when it strikes, it can be unbearable." Headaches are a common yet troublesome issue in daily life for many people, not only affecting physical well-being but also significantly impacting work. But did you know? Headaches may actually be related to dietary habits. A recent U.S. study found that reducing daily salt intake to 3 grams could lower the incidence of headaches by 30%.

**Reducing Sodium Intake Can Decrease Headache Frequency**

According to the *Daily Mail*, the study, conducted by Johns Hopkins University, randomly divided 400 participants into three groups: a low-fat diet group, a low-dairy with high fruits and vegetables group, and a typical Western diet group. Initially, participants consumed about 9 grams of salt daily—the average intake for Americans. Later, their intake was reduced to 6 grams and then 3 grams in different phases, while side effects such as headaches, bloating, dry mouth, thirst, fatigue, dizziness, and nausea were recorded.

The results showed that when daily salt intake dropped from 9 grams to 3 grams, the incidence of headaches decreased by 30%. Researcher Lawrence Appel noted that headaches were not linked to a low-fat diet, but reducing sodium intake significantly lowered headache frequency. However, the exact connection between the two remains unclear, and further research is needed.
